Bonanos A.

Dr. Aristides Bonanos is an Assistant Professor of Energy Systems at The Cyprus Institute. Previously he has been a postdoctoral scholar at Caltech, USA and an associate research scientist at The Cyprus Institute. He holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, from Virginia Tech, USA (2005). He is currently working on the cogeneration of electricity and desalinated water using concentrated solar power. His main research interests are on fluid flow and heat transfer phenomena in thermal desalination and high-temperature solar thermal processes, and he leads the CyI's work on thermal desalination systems using the multiple-effect distillation technology. Other projects include development and characterization of heliostats, and energy storage systems in packed-bed thermocline tanks. He is author of over 30 peer-reviewed publications and has served as reviewer in various scientific journals.
