Mayor of Aradippou Municipality, Cyprus
Evangelos Evangelides was born in Aradippou in 1963. He is married to Calliope Evangelides and they have three children; Christina, Andreas and Miranda.
He holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago with a specialisation in Marketing and is an accredited business consultant from the Canadian government.
In the past, he held board positions on the Boards of Directors of the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cyprus Forest Industries Public Company Ltd.
He was an elected Municipal Councillor of Aradippou Municipality for 3 terms and 15 consecutive years (1996 – 2011) during which he presided over different Committees of the Municipality.
In 2011, Evangelos was elected Mayor of Aradippou for the first time, a position for which he was re-elected in 2016.
As of 24 October 2016 he is the Chairman of the Council for Exploitation of Disposal or Utilisation of Domestic Waste Area, of Larnaca and Famagusta Districts.
He currently represents the Union of Cyprus Municipalities at the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR).
He also represents Aradippou Municipality on the Board of “Energy Cities”, the European Association of Local Authorities in energy transition.
In addition, he represents Aradippou Municipality of the Board of the City Network “Sustainable City”, a civil, non-profit organization with the intention to provide substantial technical support in informing, networking and managing the Municipalities that partake in it, enabling them to prepare and submit proposals to European Programmes and utilize the available funding.
