Hatziyianni E.
Region of Crete, Greece
E. Hatziyanni holds a Ph.D. and a M.Sc. in Marine Ecology-Environmental Biology and a Diploma in Geology. She is currently the Director of Environment and Spatial Planning at the Region of Crete, Greece, having more than ten years experience at the Hellenic Centre of Marine Research (HCMR). Currently, she acts also as a facilitator for HCMR activities in Brussels.
Eleni Hatziyanni has a great experience in coordination, management and implementation of European Projects, while she is currently coordinating more than (10) projects (Horizon 2020, LIFE, Interreg Med, EU & Adrion) at the Region of Crete. She represents Region of Crete to the European Regions Research Innovation Network (ERRIN), by co-leading Blue Growth Working Group. She is also coordinating the Environmental Pillar of Crete’s Smart Specialization Strategy (RIS Crete), and as responsible for European Projects and Networks for all RIS Pillars’ Implementation.
Her special scientific interests focus on Environmental Issues, MSP/ICZM, Blue Circular Economy, Blue Growth and Marine Policies. She has participated in more than (100) Scientific Conferences, in Europe and in US, with plenty of oral and poster presentations, and has many reviewed papers in scientific literature.
