Environment Commissioner, Cyprus
She was born in Limassol in 1962.
She is a Biologist and has graduated of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Marketing from the Mediterranean Institute of Management.
She worked in her own winery from 1986 to 2013 and she has been cultivating her vineyards since 1986. The first bio-cultivated vineyard in Cyprus was her own, from which the 1st Cypriot Organic wine was produced.
She has been particularly concerned with issues relating to the Green Development of Deprived areas, Alternative Tourism, The Production and Promotion of Organic and local products, the Achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development goals, The Cyclical Economy, Climate Change Adaptation and the Participation of women in politics.
Since 1996 she has given many lectures on the above issues and many articles have been published in newspapers and other scientific journals.
She is a member of the Biological Society of Cyprus, the Association of Scientists and Environmental Engineers and many others Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
She is a founding member of the Cyprus Green Party since 1996 to date; she is a member of the Central and Political Committee. In March 2009, she was elected General Secretary of the Cyprus Green Party and in March 2013 she was appointed by the President of the Republic as the Commissioner for the Environment, a position she holds hitherto after the Precιdent’s reelection in March 2018.
