Athena Papanastasiou, Environment Officer of the Ministry of Agricultural, Rural Development and Environment, Project Manager on behalf of LP for Interreg Med Blueislands project, Chemical Engineer (MSc) with fifteen years’ experience in waste management topics and responsible for the implementation of relevant European projects.

She has worked as a researcher-Chemical Engineer in the Unit of Environmental Studies of Intercollege, as an Industrial Extension Officer in the Energy Service of the Ministry of Energy and the last 12 years she is working as an Environment Officer in the Environment Department, in the Pollution Control Sector (2007-2013) and in the Waste Management Sector (2013-now). For 2007-2013, among others, she was a nominated reporter for the implementation of bathing waters Directive, member of the Cyprus Blue Flag Jury and responsible for the Land Base Sources (LBS) protocols of Barcelona Convention. Since 2013, she is responsible for strategic waste management issues, compliance with the European acquis, monitoring of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes and management of co-financing projects.
