Civil Engineer- Transport Planner, Public Works Department-Sustainable Mobility Department
Katerina Stylianou (female) is a Research Affiliate in the Laboratory of Transportation Engineering of the University of Cyprus, and currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Katerina has received a B.Sc. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Cyprus in 2012 and a M.Sc. in Transportation Planning and Engineering from the University of Southampton (UK) in 2013. Her research interests center on the quantitative and qualitative analysis of transport systems regarding traffic and road traffic safety, and on the use of innovative methods for optimising the performance of decision support tools in this area. Broadly her work involves developing traffic control approaches with a focus on addressing risk assessment in a network, while simultaneously examining human behaviour. In the period 2014-2015 she worked in the private sector as a Transport Planner (Nicosia, Cyprus). Since April 2018, Katerina has joined the Public Works Department and more specifically the Sustainable Mobility Sector where she is involved in various projects concerning Public Transport, Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMP) and soft transport measures. At the moment she is the Assistant Project Manager of SUMP for the greater urban area of the city of Larnaca, and is involved in other projects of the sector which are co-funded by Structural Funds.
